DELL back door passwords. (all )

Lost BIOS ADMIN PassWord :
These steps vary by maker and year made PC, and can be impossible if TPM is enabled.
Old to New PC's"  remove  RTC battery for 1 hour it resets, or if jumper called clr_xx (xx cmos or xx = pw) on newer PCs the PW is stored in EEPROM for just only that., then later stored even deeper.
The below is for 10 year old PCs that have a back door PW inside the PC.
The proactive sure is do not use BIOS Passwords ever,
(Captain obvious rears ugly head?)

I suspect all Dells that show the window (Popup) below at wrong password entered 3 times or hitting the Enter key 3 times will be cured easy as per below.
My Dell Laptop is e6540

All you need is this
Lost PASS words is only $2 to fix or free.  HDD PW looks near same but first line as hard-disk drive.

If you  ask DELL this question you get a brick wall, if out of warranty.  (In Warranty I do not know , ask them)
What they do changes as times advance and I refuse to track that ever!
What they did (or last year) is they demand you prove ownership. (by law in some countries now this is a fact)

One Ebay seller has $2 PW unlocker, (money back promise) User ID pete-20-10

Doing the PW reset:
The PW is case sensitive, nothing new there.
Please type the BIOS password wrong two or three times incorrectly,  to get magic Dell code.
To enter the new  back door code. type CONTROL(left)+enter at the end. (using the suppled code)
or it fails.

Examples, unlock codes this PC.

Hints more

Hint 2

"This method is for an E6400.
Might or might not work for an E6540.
Boot into the BIOS setup by repeatedly pressing F2 immediately after powering up, before it loads windows.
Go to the Secuity tab.
Click the red + sign to get to the Admin Password tab.
Select it then click the Unlock button at the bottom.
A new window pops up - Setup Unlock.
This displays the System Number - the 7 char.
service tag followed by a hyphen and a 4 digit hex code e.g. A1B2C3D-1F5A. "

If you are using to generate a password please note that it is case sensitive.

When done be sure to set the PW to blank. F2 securty tab.
Starts up and  a BIOS window pops asking for PW Hard-drive #xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

per this

the HDD unlock is $10 bucks here.

Newer PCs may not have any kind of back door, as in fact many countries made the practice now illegal.  (avoid all BIOS PW and avoid turning on the TPM chip) or you will be sorry.
